Dunas de Yeso Coahuila

If you follow me on instagram you may have notice that I was roadtripping last week, I took advantage of some off days from work and decided to make a quick trip to the vineyards in Coahuila, Mexico. I  don't know why I have never thought of travel there before, this state from Mexico has a lot to offer and I was amazed at every single discover. My husband and I love roadtrips, so if you are from the north of Mexico or South from Texas, this is a great option since the driving time is 5 hours. At the end we decided to visit 2 pueblos magicos (magic towns): Cuatro Cienegas and Parras, this last one is known due to the vineyards located there. I didn't know what to expect and it was a pleasant surprise.

1. Cuatro Cienegas

Coahuila Cuatro Cienegas

Is a charming small town located at the west of Coahuila, that has the badge of "magic town". Main attractions are the downtown square, San Jose church, the Carranza museum, the Gypsum Dunes and the Marble Quarry. Since I spent only 1 day there I can only recommend one restaurant, Cantina El 40 and LOVED it! It's the perfect place to end the night, have fun and eat delicious!

15 minutes drive from Cuatro Cienegas, this awesome white sand place is perfect to relax and appreciate the beauty of nature, especially having those mountains as background. Apparently this place is result of an event from millions of years ago, the waters of the Tethys Sea reached this side of the world, mixing with the silicon and hydrated calcium sulfate that were abundant in this territory, when all that ocean evaporated, these saline rocks resulted. In the world there are only four regions with these characteristics, one of them is this, proudly Mexican. At the end we took off our shoes and enjoy this white sand, I regretted not to have a surf board at the moment, so I would recommend if you visit for more fun; also you can take your basket and wine and have a picnic.

Very near from the Gypsum Dunes is located the Marble Quarry, this place used to be a quarry of travertino, a material similar to marble that was extracted for many years until a environmental protection law took place and it stopped, leaving place to this site that is perfect for photography!

Last but not least I visited the Poza Azul that it was so beautiful, unfortunately as I visited on a holiday there were too many visitors and we stayed around 10 minutes.

This small town is located 3 hours south to Cuatro Cienegas and it's famous due to its vineyards; we had the opportunity to visit two of them:

I could appreciate this is the most popular in Parras, we took the tasting and tour and we loved our sommelier, she has a wide knowledge of the wineries and town in general. Ed and I consider ourselves wine lovers and still agreed we learned a lot in this tour.

This winery is completely different, it's more private and seclude which I love! They have more activities going on like a sunset party and a horse tour! We did the tasting and tour too and it was great.

And that's all! Hope you enjoy this post...
Thank you so much for reading.
